Resolutions, Smezsolutions.....
| 5:32 PM | Allegri
Ok, so at the beginning of the year I wrote up some resolutions but so far not very many... ok pretty much only one has any effect, and a partial one at that... The "giving up" Mt. Dew thing is not going that hot cause I have gone to considering Sunday to be my day off from the "program." It's complicated, but I'm as you could say "muddling through" I have gone from drinking multiple cans of it on a daily basis down to only indulging into the intense favor and sensation of the fluid. The rest are all slightly better than before, the homework is only getting harder though. The Devotional time has sadly still not been a routine thing, but is a growing want for me to spend time in it. The exercise thing is slowly growing it's gone up to having 2-4 times a week instead of the 0-2 times, which is good, but I really want to gain the muscle back that I have apatheticaly lost over the last 6 months.

Microwaving Iraq
Wednesday, January 26, 2005 | 10:57 PM | Allegri
My fellow bogger (A Hero Lost) directed me to the U.S. Congress website today, out of thinking that it would be something having to deal with our U.S. Government homework I obliged and hit the site, soon to find out that it was the exact opposite than what I was expecting... I began to read the article, what I read shocked and disturbed me:
The grunts call the plastic devices "poppers" or "domes". Once activated, each hidden transmitter emits a widening circle of invisible energy capable of passing through metal, concrete and human skulls up to half a mile away. "They are saturating the area with ULF, VLF and UHF freqs," Hanks says, with equipment derived from US Navy undersea sonar and communications.

"Invisible energy capable of passing through metal, concrete and human skulls" just let that line soak in, what in the world are the military trying to do over in Iraq? When this war was started its reason for going into Iraq was to get Saddam Hussein out of office, and to capture/kill Osama bin Laden. Well the troops have got Saddam in a Highly guarded military prison in Cuba, but we still have no clue about what ever happened to Osama, whether he is planning another attack or if he is wormfood, but yet the military is changing there focus from finding Osama, to scouring everything that moves to look for terrorists and potentially killing thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens along the way.
He is concerned that innocent Iraqi families and unsuspecting GIs alike are being used as test subjects for a new generation of "psychotronic" weapons using invisible beams across the entire electromagnetic spectrum to selectively alter moods, behavior and bodily processes.
Very Low Frequency (VLF) weapons include the dozens of "poppers" currently deployed in Iraq, which can be dialed to or "long wave" frequencies capable of traveling great distances through the ground or intervening structures. As air force Lt Col. Peter L. Hays, Director of the Institute for National Security Studies reveals, "Transmission of long wavelength sound creates biophysical effects; nausea, loss of bowels, disorientation, vomiting, potential internal organ damage or death may occur."
I couldn't believe my eyes, I mean, I totally had a double take... "Is this a Joke?" kept rolling through my mind, but how could it? It was on the U.S. Congress website, posted by someone in the government. Why is the focus in Iraq turning from its original stand point of Saddam & Osama Out and Democracy In? Why are they using this type of a search method to "find" terrorist and risking not only the lives of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens but also U.S. military men along the way?

Personally I am anti-war especially in this case, I know at times it is necessary for the protection of the nation but, the U.S. is blowing this "War on Terrorism" into a a full blown Watergate scandal all over again. Along with the immense number of casualties on both sides of this fight, there has been major controversy over many of the actions that the President of the U.S. has done in the last few years. Contrary to popular belief, it is next to impossible to turn a tyrannous State into a Democracy, no matter how many more guns we have. The U.S. is just taking one tyrant out of office to place a new political leader in that wants America out of Iraq just as bad as the men that caused the reason that we went in.

fog, smog, and inversion.... oh my!
Monday, January 24, 2005 | 6:48 PM | Allegri
With the recent High-pressure zones and the high pollutant factors of the Wasatch Front, an inversion zone has been present for the last week and a half. Which is not very good for visibility, driving, or for all of our fellow asthmatics but, it does make for some sweet pictures.... Here is one that my friend Sawyer Pangborn took after a basketball game at school last week.

days gone by......

I was just looking through some old floppy disks recently and found a song that I wrote back in 2002, you might enjoy it... but yet agian, you might not... I cant remember what the cords were because I stole them from another song but here are the lyrics.

Lonely Hours
By Katilyn Kiehn

Verse 1
Cause you’ve turned your back,
Took all of the slack,
Taken it back to you.

Chorus
In your lonely hours,
Christ empowers,
The tears that devour you.

Verse 2
You want to make your mark,
Let loose of the bark,
That holds God back from you.

Verse 3
Now He’s molding you, making you,
To all that you can be,
Cause you’ve gave him back that you can be.

Chorus
In your lonely hours,
Christ empowers,
The tears that devour you.

Verse 4
Now go make that mark,
Cause you’ve let loose of the bark,
That held God back from you.

Chorus 2
In your lonely hours,
Christ empowered,
The tears that once devoured you.

a another year has come and gone
Monday, January 10, 2005 | 8:57 PM | Allegri

Every day I still end up catching myself writing 2004 as the date for all of my assignments. It seems as though the year 2004 flew by with incredible speed. I came and went like the snow in Salt Lake on an average winter day. Lets take a look a the things that happened this year.

A year in Record:

- The most closely watch presidential elections... ever

- Athens Summer Olympic games

- Major conflict's in Iraq

- Dispute over the POW’s in Cuba

I feel as though I should post my New Years Resolutions, as to hope that you all can help keep me accountable to them:

- More time spent in devotion- I have noticed that at times I begin to fade away in my daily Devotion time with the Lord and I really struggle with keeping it a priority in my life. I would like to say that I spend a good 30 minutes daily in the Word, but it rarely happens... please keep me accountable for it! Also, with the fact that I am a spiritual leader at both school and church it is an even greater challenge to be the best that I can be for the Lord. MY GOAL: TO SPENT ATLEAST 30 MINUTES DAILY IN THE WORD, IN STEADY DEVOTION.

- Less Caffeine- Since New Years Eve I have given up Mt. Dew and it surprisingly has been a excellent "detox" experience, lets see how long it will last. Each can of Mt. Dew contains 37 milligrams of caffeine, and with the amount that I used to drink daily of about 4 cans (or more), takes in about 148 milligrams... PER DAY!!! Whereas the FDA states that 100 milligrams is already considered an overdose that can lead to severe headaches, nausea, cramps, and of course, a chemical dependency. MY GOAL: COMPLETE DETOX- NO SODA.... haha yeah I know, won’t happen, but I have to break the dependency cycle.

- More Exercise- Over the years I have always been in some sport everyday, but as of June 2004 I left my life of dance at the doorstep, and have not yet picked up a new hobby. I am trying to get back into a daily routine of exercise but so far it has gone to buying equipment and only once of twice actually using it... I want to get back up into the same strength and endurance levels that I was at back in June and want to be able to be able to run a mile race in under 8 minutes once again and be able to continue running on after it. MY GOAL: 8-minute mile.

- More focus on homework- Yes I know, senior year at a new school, and I've had the reputation of being at the top of my class since, what, ninth grade?! Wow that’s a long time. But it seems that the tables have turned and science is no longer my forte but more my weakness. Theology has came out on top along with English, and senioritis is really trying to get the best of me.... It has been following me like an annoying little sixth grader that has no one else to look up to, but its been growing and attempting to chisel me away from my studies. AHHH GO AWAY STUPID SENIORITIS!!! MY GOAL: SCHOOL FIRST!!! NOTHING UNTIL ALL WORK IS DONE... it will be hard but I'm (trying to) sticking to it.

Now that I have spilt about all of my things that I struggle with I am putting it on your shoulders to hold me accountable to them. If you could continue to hold me to all of these things, you will remain, as constant reminder as to what I am trying to reach in my life and what is part of my priorities.
